Those interested in a workshop and the opportunity to comment about the potential impact of aquaculture in the Gulf of Mexico are invited to do so from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. July 12.

Recently, a fish farm has received a permit to potentially exist about 45 miles off Siesta Key’s shoreline.

The public opportunity is being facilitated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s fisheries division. It is seeking comment for 60 days (starting June 1) for an environmental impact statement to help assess the situation.
