Just a couple hours before sunset in the midst of a light gulf breeze, Katie McDonald and Mike Chrobak of Pennsylvania united themselves in marriage on the spectacular shoreline of Siesta Key. The love these two dynamic people displayed permeated the salty air surrounding their family and close friends during this intimate ceremony.
New Year's eve 2010 would change this couple's lives forever. They met at a busy bar about an hour before midnight. Katie distinctly remembers how poking fun at Mike's best friend's hair got Mike's attention. Katie related, "we talked away the rest of the hour and at midnight Mike leaned in for a kiss. It was a perfect little smooch to start a great year and a great relationship."
Family is extremely important to Katie and when she grew to realize how close Mike and his family were, it pretty much sealed the deal. Katie explained, "Mike’s dad is his best friend. They drive to and from work together every day. They do farm work together. They are an adorable pair of Mikes. Once I saw that relationship, I knew we shared the same core values in life and to me that is the most important thing in a successful relationship."
When Katie's done working as a digital analyst and Mike is home from his software engineer job, the truly hard work begins, as they own and live on a farm. Mike's work list includes cutting the grass, fixing things and building projects, all things he loves. There's no shortage of fresh eggs and vegetables for this great couple to enjoy. Katie loves to garden and take care of a flock of chickens that she adores. She joyfully says, "Being on the farm, just like being on the beach, it helps keep us centered, calm, sane, and happy."
Selecting the beach on Siesta Key as the location for their special day was easy. They've been vacationing on the Key for years. They both have fallen in love with the incredible beach, the quaint town and everything else that makes Siesta Key one of the unique places on earth. Katie related, "When we decided to have a destination wedding, we couldn’t think of anything better than taking our friends and family to a place that we love and have memories – and now will have even more special memories."
Where to spend their honeymoon was easy for this terrific couple. They decided to spend the whole week following the wedding sharing all they love about Siesta Key and Sarasota with their close family and friends.
