According to the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce, the No. 1 question it gets from visitors is whether or not it has a public bathroom. Its employees and volunteers tell them it doesn’t, and that the nearest public bathrooms are at the public beach, about a mile away.
As a result, the chamber has established a survey asking residents and guests if they’d like to see public restrooms created in the Village. The results, which were not available by press time for this issue, will be sent to the Sarasota County Board of Commissioners in hopes of convincing them to potentially finance such a project.
The chamber’s Visitor Center reports it welcomed 5,223 walk-in visits in 2021, with 2,089 inquires about bathrooms — representing about 40% and about eight bathroom inquires per day.

Printed surveys are also available at the chamber’s Visitor Center at 5114 Ocean Blvd. in the Village.
Deadline is June 21.
