Sarasota County will host a free community cleanup in the Gulf Gate neighborhood from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 7 to collect discarded household items, yard waste and tree trimmings. Dumpsters for residential customers will be available at 7112 Curtiss Ave. (opposite Gulf Gate Library).
Hazardous waste, such as paint, oil, gas, electronics, appliances and computers, will not be accepted. Hazardous materials may be taken to the Sarasota County Chemical Collection Center, 8750 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Staff from Neighborhood Services will be present to share information and resources available through county neighborhood programs.
