In Honor of Captain Ralph Styles (a Decorated WWII Submarine Captain in the Pacific Theater), who began this Tribute Ceremony about 30 years ago.
Each Sunset, our community comes together with new friends from around the world, on Siesta Key at 10 Beach Road , and say:
“Welcome to Patriots Pier at Sunset Point! We thank you for joining our nightly tribute to honor the sacrifices of our military and service personnel and first responders in protecting our country and our freedoms! We are the land of the Free because of the Brave!”
Each ceremony our patriots are called out loud and proud to honor their dedication and service that enables us to live in this country and enjoy our Siesta Key paradise.
The personal events of these lives that are shared are many times very emotional and inspiring to hear their sacrifices and stories.
At each nightly ceremony, we also seek to educate our next generations what patriots have done and sacrificed for their futures. Here is a picture featuring many young people learning how to fold our flag and what each fold represents: Liberty, Unity, Justice, Perseverance, Hardiness, Valor, Purity, Innocence, and Sacrifice (Congress 1901).
