Volleyball Tournament on Siesta Beach
The Sunshine State Outdoor Volleyball Association (SSOVA) will be hosting a men’s and women’s volleyball tournament on Siesta Beach Oct. 5-6. The tournament will feature college club teams in pool play and then single elimination playoffs. Play starts at 8:45 a.m. on both days.
Chamber hosts Safe Treats for Kids
Families can bring their little monsters trick-or-treating on Siesta Key at the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce Annual Safe Treats for Kids event on Oct. 31 from 3-6 p.m.
This free event provides a safe venue for children to enjoy trick-or-treating at participating businesses. Simply look for the businesses displaying festive balloons and go on in.
Businesses wishing to participate need to register at the Chamber of Commerce website. Families and children wanting to participate, need not register.

The Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the one-year work anniversary of Visitor Center & Volunteer Manager, Brittany Stokes.
An announcement released by the Chamber said, Brittany is a great asset to our team and does an outstanding job recruiting and training volunteers and overseeing the visitor center. Her motto is “how can I help” and goes above and beyond to enhance the guest experience.

Phillippi Estate Farmhouse Market Begins Season
Sarasota’s only weekday farmer’s market is back for its 4th season at Phillippi Estate Park at 5500 South Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. The Phillippi Farmhouse Market takes place every Wednesday from October through May from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
This outdoor market features locally grown fruits and vegetables, including local USDA certified organic produce and hydroponics. There will be plants, herbs, hanging baskets, shrubs and cut flowers for sale along with a wide variety of locally baked goods, delicious barbeque, plenty of food and beverage vendors, arts and crafts, soaps and candles and always live music.
