Judge issues final judgment in hotel-related lawsuit

On Oct. 9, Judge Hunter Carroll of Sarasota County’s 12th Judicial Circuit Court issued a final judgment in the lawsuit by Siesta Key resident Lourdes Ramirez against Sarasota County. Ramirez prevailed in her assertion that the county violated its own comprehensive plan in October of 2021 by allowing unlimited density for an eight-story, 170-room hotel on .96 acres along Calle Miramar near the Siesta Key Village.

The order had been requested by the plaintiffs and defendants in the case in lieu of a Nov. 13 trial that would address some minor issues related to Carroll’s summary (non-trial) judgment he rendered Aug. 21. Here is the final judgment:
