The Siesta Key Kiwanis Club will have its first social gathering of the year from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. June 16 at O’Leary’s Tiki Bar & Grill, 5 Bayfront Drive, Sarasota.
It is open to both Kiwanis members and non-members and is free of charge.
The next outing is June 30 at Stottlemyer’s Smokehouse.
Kiwanis’ focus is to support the needs of children. The Siesta Key group was chartered in 2001, originally meeting at the old Summerhouse restaurant on Midnight Pass Road.
Among its commitments is the sponsoring of several Sarasota-area classrooms, providing teachers with the extra materials they need. Other projects include Hope Kids school readiness, Literacy Buddies, Salvation Army bell ringing, and work sessions at various non-profit organizations.
