The no-swim advisory for Siesta Key’s Turtle Beach has been lifted, as of the evening of Aug. 10.

Due to unacceptable levels of bacteria related to red tide, Turtle Beach was among eight county beaches that on Aug. 5 were issued no-swim advisory status. Two more beaches were added to the list on Aug. 7. In all, 11 county beaches had the no-swim status, the first being North Lido Beach on July 29, and all have since been cleared with acceptable tests.
Siesta Beach never received such an advisory during the time frame.
Still, all 16 Sarasota County beaches remain under a red tide warning.
Since Aug. 4, Sarasota County reports it has removed more than 60 tons of debris from its collective shorelines.
