According to a March 30 press release from Sarasota County officials:
Red tide has been detected at several beaches in Sarasota County. Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County will post signage at the beaches to advise the public that red tide is present after Monday’s (March 27) beach water samples at these beaches had elevated counts of red tide.
The beaches affected are: Siesta Key, Bird Key/Ringling Causeway, North Lido, Lido Casino, and South Lido.
On March 23, red tide warnings at all 16 of Sarasota County’s public beaches were lifted after some had warnings dating back as far as mid-October.
There are no red tide cleanup operations scheduled, but regularly scheduled beach raking will continue on Siesta and Lido beaches.
