This periodic column will profile a visitor or resident of Siesta Key and will explore the things that make Siesta Key a great place to live and visit. Our first profile is of Addy, age 12, of Pennsylvania.
Addy says that she travels to Siesta Key with her parents, brother, sister, and extended family every year.
What is your favorite thing to do on the island? I love going to the beach and building sandcastles with my brother and sister. I also really enjoy going on the boat and fishing with my dad and grandpa. We usually use shrimp as bait and catch fish such as trout, pompano, grouper, redfish, and Jack Crevalle. Sometimes we even catch sharks!
Do you have a favorite memory from Siesta Key? Sometimes, my mom and dad and I get up early in the morning and take a walk along the beach. I like to look for seashells, and sometimes I find really big ones!
What is your favorite place to eat on the island? I love to get ice cream in the village!
Would you rather swim in the pool or the ocean? The ocean, because I can see fish and seashells.
Do you play any sports? Yes, I play basketball. I wish there were more courts where I could practice on Siesta Key.
What is one food that you think is gross? Sausage!
Favorite animal? Probably a bear.
What is one thing you’re scared of? I’m very scared of heights, but I want to try parasailing some time!
Favorite class in school? My favorite subject is English because I love reading.
What do you like to do in your spare time? Read books and do puzzles!
What do you want to be when you grow up? Right now I really want to be an architect.
What books would you recommend to other kids for beach reading? I’d recommend the Hunger Games series.
Favorite thing to do on the weekend? Watch TV and read.
What is one food you love? Ice Cream! My favorite flavor is coffee oreo. It’s amazing!
If you could travel to a fictional place for a day, where would you go? I would love to spend the day at Hogwarts because I’m a huge Harry Potter fan, and it’s just the coolest place ever.
