State Sen. Joe Gruters, whose District 22 represents Sarasota and Manatee counties, will face off against challenger Michael Johnson on Aug. 4 as the guest speakers at the Sarasota Tiger Bay Club’s monthly luncheon.
The two Republicans face each other in a universal Aug. 23 primary (there are no Democrat candidates), with the winner taking the seat.
Kevin Cooper of Mote Marine will serve as moderator.
The event takes place at Michael’s on East, 1212 S. East Ave., Sarasota. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the program runs from noon to 1:15 p.m.
