9-17-2025 Suspected Burglary

Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a Siesta Key residence for a reported residential burglary. The complainant wasn’t home but observed, via security camera, a subject opening his pool cage door. The subject was detained by the reporting Sheriff Deputy. The subject was a 14-year-old with a fishing pole who stated he wanted to ask if he could fish off complainant’s dock. The suspect also stated that his fishing lure had caught on the screen door and that is why he had opened it. Suspect was issued a trespass warning and released to his mother.

9-19-2025 Business Burglary

Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a business on Stickney Point Road in response to a reported burglary. The complainant advised that around 5:30 a.m. someone had broken into the business and stolen two mopeds. Owner of the business showed the Deputy where the front door of the business had been broken into. Surveillance video showed a white male, in his forties, try to break the front door open with a hammer, leave and return with a crowbar, and ultimately pry the front door open. Suspect appeared to have known which mopeds he wanted because he selected the keys off the wall and went directly to the mopeds outside, only taking off the covers of the correct mopeds. The mopeds are valued at $1949 dollars each. The suspect also stole two pairs of Panama Jack sunglasses and a Panama Jack hat totaling $90.00. The damage to the door, frame, and lock is estimated at $1,500. Prints were recovered at the scene and entered into evidence.

9-26-2025 Theft

Complainant, a property manager, stated a charge back citing a fraudulent charge to a credit card for $3280. The card was used to rent an Airbnb property for the dates of 8/7-8/11 by a suspect, who appeared to be about a 20-year-old male. Property manager believed that 4 males and 4 females stayed in the rental for the duration of the rental. Complainant further stated that after the stay was completed, housekeepers were unable to open the doors to two rooms because the subjects had removed the key box with the keys inside. In addition, numerous items were stolen including: a $150 speaker, a $100 label maker, a $100 air pump, a $300 drink maker, and a Jeep Wrangler key valued at $100.

9-10-2025 Identity Theft

Complainant reported a case of identity theft to the Sheriff’s Office. Complainant indicated that on 9/4/2025 at from approximately 11:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. complainant received several dozen text messages from different phone carriers and financial institutions asking if she had changed her passwords on her accounts. Despite responding “no” to each of the text messages, the text messages continued. Complainant then visited her cell phone carrier and eventually had to change her phone number.
