On Sept. 2, a pair of Siesta Key lifeguards rescued a lost flamingo that was wandering Crescent Beach. It is presumed that it was off course due to Hurricane Idalia.
Michael Patterson and Scot “Scooter of the Beach” Ruberg, the two lifeguards, were able to secure the bird and contact the Save Our Seabirds organization, whose representatives took it to their facility for the proper care.
