Between 2015 and 2019, 595 people died on the roadways of Sarasota and Manatee counties. Destination Zero, a program created by the counties’ Metropolitan Planning Organization, is asking residents to take a survey in hopes of making the region’s roadways safer.

Visit and then click on the survey tab.

With help from survey data, the Destination Zero plan will take place throughout this year and is anticipated to be completed and presented to the MPO board in January.

Siesta Key felt the pain of this crisis in February, when a bicyclist was killed when it collided with a trolley at the intersection of Midnight Pass and Stickney Point roads.
