On July 1, 1921, the southern half of Manatee County was rewarded with its efforts to become its own county. That’s the day Sarasota County was officially formed.

Why and how did this occur? A video documenting the process is available online, thanks to the Sarasota County Centennial Celebration group. Visit sarasotacountycentennial.com to watch the video and join in the celebration of the county’s 100^th year.

Dr. Frank Cassell, the group’s chairman, serves as host.
