The Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce is looking for adults to join a team of dedicated volunteers who will play an integral role in making this fall’s 16th annual Siesta Key Crystal Classic Sandsculpting Festival on Siesta Beach a success.
This year’s Crystal Classic, running Friday, Nov. 13, through Monday, Nov. 16, will draw many of the world’s best sand artists from the U.S., Canada, Europe and beyond to Siesta Beach. Over the course of several days, they will create awe-inspiring, award-winning sand sculptures that showcase their imaginations and the talents that have earned them recognition around the world.
For four days, Siesta Beach becomes a celebration of sand, artistry and community. As world-class sculptors take center stage at the Siesta Key Crystal Classic Sandsculpting Festival to create their masterpieces, hundreds of volunteers will work behind the scenes to help make the event a success.
More than 40,000 visitors are expected to attend this year’s Crystal Classic, making it one of Sarasota County’s most anticipated annual events.
“Volunteers play an important role in welcoming and connecting with those guests,” said Sarah Firstenberger, CEO of the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce.
Working alongside chamber staff in a variety of roles throughout the festival, volunteers help welcome guests and assist with admissions and at the information booth. They also lend their support to the merchandise area and assist with other festival operations.
“It’s a great way to experience the Crystal Classic from behind the scenes while being part of one of Siesta Key’s signature events,” Firstenberger said. “The Crystal Classic wouldn’t be the same without the people who give their time to be part of it. Our volunteers become a part of the experience. They’re helping to welcome visitors, support the festival and create the kind of atmosphere that keeps people coming back year after year.”
A thank-you to volunteers
As a thank-you, volunteers receive an event admission bracelet good for entry to the festival all four days, including Saturday evening’s festivities.
“Whether you’re a longtime volunteer, a local resident looking for a new way to get involved, or someone who simply wants to be part of the action, there’s a place for you at the Crystal Classic,” Firstenberger said.

The 16th annual Siesta Key Crystal Classic is presented by the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce, with Publix and Siesta Key Beach Resort and Suites serving as presenting sponsors.
